Testing client / Computer Issues

I'm starting to get more than a hair annoyed with these weird glitches. I thought I'd see if anyone else had any ideas.

WinXP SP2 (32-Bit)
Giga-Byte GA-K8NF-9
Athlon 64 3000+
2x512MB DDR 400 Xerox RAM (I think this is the issue)
MSI GeForce NX6600 PCIe 256MB
Two Western Digital 8MB Cache Hard Drives (120GB and 200GB)
Pioneer 106 DVD +/- RW drive
Lite-On DVD-ROM 16x

FLAC files start skipping in Winamp 5.08e w/ FLAC 1.1.2 Official Plugin at around 5:30.
City of Heroes and Unreal Tournament 2k4 both cause the system to power off at random intervals.

RAM Stats from CPU-Z:
Max Speed: PC3200
Manufacturer: Xerox
Timings: 3.0-4-4-8

2 Sticks @ 512MB run in Dual-Channel

The timings on the RAM seem awfully high.  I'm debating upgrading to PC4000 Crucial/Micron or Kingston.  I'm going to try splitting the current sticks up and running single-channel first, but not until this weekend.

And unfortunately, no, I haven't tried reproducing the shut-downs under Linux....  Debian doesn't have an install kernel that works completely with this board, and everyone knows my luck with Kernel compiles.
