Emergency. Emergency. There's an emergency going on. It's still going on. It's still an emergency.

Well, I have finally done it. I sent my Resume out today for an IT support position with a company on the other side of town. So long as I get a call back (which I figure I will, I fit most of their criteria) and get the job (which I've never failed to do, once I get an interview) then I will be moving on... sideways.

Gone will be the days of showing up to work 14 minutes late 5 days a week, free lunch every Thursday, and getting away with black jeans and sneakers as part of my uniform. Also gone, I hope, will be the days of being asked to falsify documentation and court documents, the laughs and snickers behind my back for having a vocabulary and an education, and the High School level drama that goes on there on a daily basis. I might even be allowed some kind of wall hanging / desk decoration of my own! (I'm still considering myself lucky that I haven't been asked to take down or frame the single Dilbert strip on my desk.)

But all in all I'm hoping this will be a positive thing... One of my coworkers worked there 20 years ago and said the only reason he left was because the pay was crap, but since then they've added three locations and a few hundred employees. So long as the pay is above what I'm making now by at least what the extra drive will cost me, and health insurance is included, then I'll be happy. (I don't even need retirement, as I have my own that earns better returns than what my current employer provides.)
