Please note the "Fictional Planets" theme. And at least this time I'm not making [info]drd2be an iWidow. :)

If anyone is curious, the new laptop is just the current 17" MBP, vanilla with no-glare screen. :)

So... The officants at the wedding want to wear robes. And they made the error of not saying what type of robes.

So, here are the options:

Pan-Galactic Gargle-Blasters have an interesting taste to them, to say the least.  Then again, our beautiful and wonderful bartender ([info]drd2be) added extra OJ to make them more of a screwdriver-strength drink than the recipie's highball martini-style drink.  I'm reserving overall judgement on the taste, given that [info]drd2be, [info]scarred2112, and [info]troisbalances all liked them, as did A.D.A.M.

The movie is still funny.  A.D.A.M. yelling out, "Sing Along" as I was browsing the special features made for an interesting evening, and my sister enjoyed an evening away from home before her last final today.

Then while heading up to Annabell's to confirm some things for tonight's show, I ended up following Akron Yellow Cab's car # 42 for a good distance.

I love Towel Day.

Like the new LJ Portal thingy. Rather nice to have all this info on one page.

Meanwhile, I really should make an away message for IM for school days. Saying I'm still at work 4-5 hours later isn't ideal...

I have just realized that I have yet to do anything major concerning Douglas Adams' work without a female with me, usually a significant other.

1994, Gramma takes me to Library Book Sale.  Find first four books in hardcover.

1998, Elf and I are in a Border's in South Carolina.  We see the Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide and immediately buy all three.  (One for her, one for me, one for A.D.A.M.)

2005, The movie comes out in theaters.  Take TJK to see the movie, wander through Border's next door afterwards and find Ulitmate Hitchhiker's Guide again, this time on clearance for less than the paperback version...  Somewhere around $10 each.  I have $5 to my name at this point, and cannot afford to buy out the store.

2005, Movie comes out on DVD.  I pick it up on the way to meet DW for a date.

Well, I have done two things to my journal that y'all may be interested in.

First, I have enabled tagging for anyone on my friends list.  You think one of my entries needs a tag, go ahead and add it.  (It's one of the buttons at the top of the comments page.)

Second, I went through my friends list this morning and added a bunch of interests to my own.  However, I need a little help with that.

On my info page, you'll see my list of interests.  Unfortunately, as most of you know, I'm a rather nieve person, and am not up on all the latest terminology and slang...

So I'm asking everyone to make sure I'm actually saying what I think I'm saying.  For example, while role playing with my significant other in the bedroom is fun and interesting, it's not the kind of thing I want to advertise on my info page.  However, I rather enjoy a good game of D&D, so role playing as a non-sexual passtime is one of my interests....  However, there is "roleplaying" "role playing" and "role-playing" and I'm not sure if one of them carries a connotation that I may not be aware of.  Hence why I need everyone's help.

EDIT: Added new icons, found on [info]reddwarficons.

Such as updating.

When I am away from the computer, I can think of fun, interesting updates to post. Rants on politics, theory, math, etc.

When I'm finally sitting in front of the computer, my brain immediately flushes any and all interesting thoughts, leaving me a poor, vapid shell that rambles on about stuff that nobody else really wants to read.

In the meantime, someone needs to do a side-by-side photo comparison of the two Hitchiker's casts (TV vs. Movie).

This was kind of interesting, and personally, the new Arthur fits what I envisioned much better. The other actor had too square of a chin, and doesn't look disheveled enough. I actually am not sure which Ford I prefer, both did so well.

Meanwhile, the boss said something about a quick jaunt to get some construction plans from the display room. Off to get my leopard-taming gear.

Well, I saw Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy last night, and I can only sum up my experience in one way, that most people may or may not get....

The relationship between the Hitchhiker's book and the movie is that of Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete and Lunar: Legend.

I've played about 1/2 way through Legend, and it's not bad. The translation is clean, the story is present, and the characters present themselves well. It's not a bad translation or a bad game at all.

However, and this is a big however, playing through L:SSSC is a completely different experience, even though both games tell the same story. There is an air of polished-ness and something intangible about SSSC that pulls you in better, and deeper. It becomes less the telling of a story and more the experiencing of it, if that makes any sense.

Personally, given my experience with the book, I have to say this is most likely the fact that Douglas didn't finish the script himself. I'm not going to put blame on the other guy, because he had exceptionally large shoes to fill. It doesn't change the fact, however, that he had way too much wiggle room at his toes.
